Sainte Chapelle

I have never seen so much stained glass before! Sainte Chapelle is one of the more famous churches in Paris, but it's slightly inconvenient to get in. Since it's located in the middle of the Palais du Justice (a government movement), you have to go through security, get scanned, the whole nine yards. When you finally get through and get to see the church from the outside, you'd never guess how much stained glass there is!

The Sainte Chapelle was consecrated in 1248 by Louis IX. Story goes, he was in possession of some holy relics, which included the Holy Crown of thorns and some of the nails from the cross of Jesus. Naturally, he built an entire church to house these relics and keep them safe. The second level, designated for the King and his family, was built only with stained glass windows; it's actually some of the oldest surviving glass in Paris.

In the 15 sections of windows, there are 1,113 scenes depicted from the Bible. The scenes start at Genesis, and end with the Resurrection.
